Carlsbad-CA Jet Source announces newly awarded contract for San Diego Police Department A-Star Completions.

Jet Source Inc. has been awarded the airframe and avionics completion contract for San Diego Police Department’s entire new fleet of four American Eurocopter AS350B-3 helicopters scheduled to deliver in 2006. The four A-Stars will replace a 38-year-old Bell 206, the nation's oldest police chopper, along with a 33-year-old helicopter, and two that go back 12 years. The helicopters will be outfitted with a state-of-the-art law enforcement equipment package. This aircraft package will be entirely NVG (Night Vision Goggle) capable, and will include a thermal imaging system, an Aero Computers Moving Map, a custom designed command radio suite, and a customized instrument panel per SDPD design specifications. Jet Source will also be providing advanced avionics, installing a sophisticated audio system, upgraded cyclic grips, a microwave downlink system, a digital video recording unit, Lojack and PRONET tracking systems. Total value of the aircraft contract is expected to exceed $2,000,000.00 for all four ships.
